Before leaving Palestine to move abroad permanently, Ahmad, a filmmaker, agrees to do one final mission, given to him by a friend who is the director of the future Palestinian National Theatre. He is to organise auditions in the Palestinian refugee camps to find candidates who will make up the national theatre group. Accompanied by the journalist Bissan and his cameraman “Lumière”, Ahmad goes off in search of talent in the refugee camps of Jordania, Syria and Lebanon. As the auditions go on, Ahmad asks his aspiring actors and actresses to reconstruct what best embodies their Palestinian essence : waiting…
“We, as Palestinians, get the impression that we don’t control our destiny. The hope of a possible solution emerges regularly then fades away and we start waiting again. Waiting has become an integral part of our lives. It’s at the root of our whole being.” Rachid Masharawi
How we can express this wait for freedom and equality by dramatic expression.
