Kidlat Tahimik was born in Baguio in 1942. A graduate of the University of the Philippines, he obtained an M.B.A. then at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania He worked at the OECD in Paris, then returned to the Philippines where he began a career as an independent filmmaker. Perfumed Nightmare is internationally recognized and has a great influence on young Filipino filmmakers.
