Kohki Hasei was born in Okayama in 1975 in Japan. He begins to work in the artistic environment in Tokyo. In 1988, he created the place Obscure Gallery and published art, photography and music magazines, then, in 2001, made a documentary W/O. He then shot music videos and films on fashion, then, in 2008, he made a short film, Godog. Blanka is his first fiction feature film.
