Bunda goes on a surprise visit to Jakarta to meet her daughter Eliana who ran away from home five years ago. Bunda came with two air tickets with the firm intention to bring her daughter back home, but she reaches at the wrong moment. Eliana has just lost her job and her landowner told her to leave. Heni who rents the flat with her has disappeared. Eliana is terribly worried and takes her mother with her into the shady areas of Jakarata during a whole night in a taxi with a talkative and nonchalant driver. Jakarta is shown as the third character of the film, both violent and attractive.
Eliana and Bunda are two individuals from two different generations, each representing the complexity of today's Indonesians. They are a part of a society that is used to living in crisis and vulnerability. This night drive allows them to clarify their past and present relationships, and to enter future.
