Laos, on the eve of the fall of the United States-backed royalist government.
Khammanh is in love with Boa Deng, much to the woman’s stepfather’s displeasure. Due to the machinations of the latter, the young man is sent to fight for the Pathet Lao. During his absence, the evil stepfather presses Boa Deng to marry a rich man in the village…But Khammanh returns with a vengeance.
This touching love story takes place on the eve of the fall of the United States-backed royalist government in 1975. If it has been produced as a propaganda movie, it succeeds in depicting Laotian life and culture social life under monarchy and even touches on some risqué subjects with several subplots.
