Masashi Asada's father, who loved photography very much, gave him a camera when he was a child. He started to take unique, totally offbeat "family photos". He left for Tokyo and moved in with a childhood girl friend. Time went by and Masashi was doing nothing with his life right up to the day when, surprisingly, his photos were given the prestigious Kimura Ihei Award! He started to receive requests from all over Japan to take photos of families and, in the end, he succeeded in having a dream job until the day a powerful earthquake rocked the North East of Japan...
In the devastated zone where he goes to check whether the family he had photographed is safe, he meets people who have lost their homes and members of their families. He meets a young man who washes every photo found in the mud caused by the tsunami in order to give them back to the members who have survived the tragedy. He decides to abandon everything to help him. Encouraged by the smiles of these people for whom the photos are the only link connecting them to their past, he gradually becomes capable of believing in the "power of photos".
