As he comes out of the Beijing University Hospital, a middle-aged man cadges a cigarette from a stranger and says, "I've been diagnosed. It's cancer. Stage four."
Chun and Dong are brothers with very different personalities. After reaching middle age, they both live in Beijing but have drifted apart. Dong suggests to his elder brother Chun that they go to Yanagawa in Japan to look for the woman they both loved when they were young. In Yanagawa, Yoko Ono's home town, Liu Chan works as a singer in a bar, often singing "Oh My Love" by John Lennon. When they meet up with her again, the brothers approach her in their own way as they had done 20 years before.
“Love is an enigma; for the spectators and even more so for those madly in love. An enigma arouses the desire to solve it. But what happens? Time and space will give birth to a bigger mystery. Nevertheless, we passionately engage in this search generated by songs and dances.” Zhang Lu
