Five youngsters of about fifteen live in Singapore with no other social reference point than that of belonging to a group linked by friendship, a sort of gang organised along the codes near to those of the Triads. They have left their families and their schools, and play with drugs, sex and violence. Their imagination is filled with images from MTV, animated cartoons, adverts and electronic music. They wander soullessly around this ultra-modern town, which ignores them and treats them as dropouts.
When it first came out, this avant-garde, highly stylised film was judged as graphic and controversial, to the point of being banned from local cinemas, because of its use of gang names, their meeting places and secret society songs. 15 years later, it was possible to see the original version of the film.
