On the slopes of the purple mountains in Kabul, where kites fly over the bazaars and where religious beliefs are king, Khatera, 23 years old and pregnant with her second child, transgresses the code of silence. Subjected to sexual abuse from her father from an early age, she decides to speak out about it. The few words she says, pronounced on television in front of millions of viewers, provoke an earthquake among the political leaders. Before her, the country as a whole rises up. Determined to obtain her rights, she takes legal action in order to defend herself and be recognised as a victim. How can she lodge a complaint and be heard? This forceful documentary gives a day by day account of an exceptional woman’s battle.
