Wang Yao is an assistant doctoral researcher at the China Film Culture Institute, Beijing Film Academy. His research focuses on the history of cinema, Eastern European cinema, Asian cinema and film festivals. He is a member of the board of directors of NETPAC and an individual member of the International Federation of Cinematographic Press. He also works as a curator or consultant for film festivals such as Beijing IFF, etc. His publications include the book Minor Cinema(s) in Global Cinema Phase (2023) and Romanian New Wave (forthcoming). He is the president of the NETPAC jury.
