Fei Pah, a simple pasta vendor, refuses to pay a protection levy imposed by a gang of local hooligans, a decision which has drastic consequences for his family and close relations. He decides to take things in hand when the girl he loves is kidnapped. To take revenge, he learns the martial arts in order to face up to the band led by a mysterious man in an iron mask.
Inspired by the craze for Kung Fu, aroused by Bruce Lee in the 1970s, Ring of Fury is the first and only martial arts film from Singapore, staging the local karaté champion, Peter Chong. The censure at the time considered that it was incompatible with the effort deployed by Singapore to flush out criminality and put an end to vigilantism. The ban lasted for 32 years before the film had its first showing, expected for a long time, in 2005 at the Singapore International Film Festival.
