Singapore, 1977. Hock, a young shop assistant in a supermarket, leads a very monotonous life. Stuck in the midst of a job with no future, his boss’s upbraidings, his father’s criticism and a brother perfect beyond measure, he finds escape only in his passion for kung-fu and his dream of owning the latest motorbike model. The disco wave which floods the island will change his life and that of his friends.
The hand of fate decreed that a popular discotheque should organise a dancing contest with a five- thousand-dollar prize, more than enough to buy the precious, highly-coveted motorbike. There is only one problem : Hock does not know how to dance.
Guided by his heroes, John Travolta and Bruce Lee, and thanks to the advice of a mysterious guardian angel, he takes part in the contest and wins first prize. The young man can finally perceive a new future. But nothing happens as planned.
“Forever Fever” was the first Singapore film to gain international acclaim. The well-balanced drama of Glen Goei is a hilarious and surprisingly convincing homage to the film which made a star of John Travolta.
