Aiman works in a high security prison. Rahim, the chief executioner there, accompanies prisoners condemned to death in the final days before their execution. He quickly takes the young prison guard under his wing and teaches him the ropes. Aiman proves himself to be a very industrious underling but his conscience and his real motivations gradually catch up with him...
“I purposely created Aiman’s character to keep it as close as I could to the spectators’ point of view ; his ambivalence and contradictory feelings about the death penalty are the same as those of a large number of people. This opposition between what is good or bad, is in fact the reflection of differing opinions about capital punishment. The position, especially, of Aiman, both victim and representative of the law, means that he is the incarnation of all these contradictory ideals. The tension between punishment and forgiveness, dissuasion and compassion, are at the heart of the debate. Intrinsically, Aiman is a trigger character who urges people to take a stand by asking themselves how their conscience guides them.” Junfeng Boo
