Boo Junfeng was born in 1983 in Singapore. He studied in film schools in Spain and Singapore. In 2009, he became the first winner of the McNally Prize for Excellence in the Arts - a distinction granted by the University of the Arts Lasalle. In 2010, he directed his first feature Sandcastle and presented it at Critics' Week in Cannes, then in Busan, Vancouver and London. In 2016, Apprentice was in the official selection at Cannes in Un certain regard.
