On her wedding eve, an Uzbek bride must take her festive repast to her aunt's and perform a wedding rite: wash her face in the mountain stream to be "clean" when she enters her new life. On the way to her aunt's house the girl meets fellow villagers. These inconspicious, usually calm and benevolent people suddenly manifest well concealed family problems, love dramas, hypocrisy, lies and happiness, in a word a life, brimming with passions.
