Hana Makhmalbaf was born in 1988 in Tehran. Daughter of director and film teacher Mohsen Makhmalbaf and sister of director Samira Makhmalbaf, she has been immersed in cinema since childhood. She works on the films of her father, her stepmother Marzieh Meshkini or her sister as a script or photographer. She directed her first short film at the age of 9, and in 2003 the making of At five o'clock in the afternoon. She shot her first feature film Le Cahier in 2007, in Afghanistan. His second film, Green Days (Ruzhaye Sabz), was presented at the 2009 Venice Film Festival. It alternates documentary sequences on the holding of the last elections in Iran, and fictional sequences on the condition of women in this country.
