Li Qi Ming is a school teacher about to retire who decides to go to Wuhan in order to find his son whom he has not heard from for last 6 years. His wife being seriously ill, she wishes to see her son before she dies.
Li Qi Ming is welcomed by his daughter Yanhong working as a hostess in a karaoke night club. She introduces him to a policeman wishing to help him for his search, and the two men soon become friends. He also meets his daughter’s boy friend, the owner of the karaoke club. During a diner, the policeman identifies Yanhong’s fiancé as a man he jailed ten years before…
“The family’s structures in terms of tradition, culture and history are shattered by the fast mutations of the social system… I heartedly dedicate this film to all Chinese parents who lost a child, as well as to the ghosts of the young deceased.” Wang Chao
Wang Chao portrays the young generation from the countryside who believed in the mirages of the city at any cost, including at the cost of their own lives.
