In a small village of the Gyeonggi province where river Han flows, Mija lives with his her grand-son who studies in a college. This eccentric woman full of curiosity takes care over her appearance and sports flowery hats and light-colored clothes. She attends by chance poetry courses at her local cultural center and, for the first time in her life, writes a poem. She looks for the beauty in her usual environment to which she never paid much attention until then. She feels she is now discovering things she always saw, and is spurred by this.
However, an unexpected event makes her realize that life is not as beautiful as she thought.
“What does ‘to write a poem’ mean at a time when poetry is in decline? This is the question I wanted to ask the audience, and, beyond, a question I am asking myself: what does ‘to make a film’ mean at a time when cinema is threatened?” Lee Chang-dong
