René is gay and about to turn 70. He is convinced that, in the twilight of his life, it is now too late to love, or keep a friend; he can only wait for death. He is prepared and he even bought his coffin at summer sales. His only companion is a street dog (Bwakaw) wandering around his house and following him everywhere. René feeds the dog but refrains from showing any affection. One day Bwakaw falls ill and the vet diagnoses a cancer. René is very affected and realizes the dog means so much more for him.
Jun Robles Lana made this film as a tribute for his mentor René Villanueva, the famous Filipino playwright. “I used humor to break and rhythm silence in René’s life. It was not only to lighten the atmosphere, but also to show René tenderness and reveal other facets of his personality, bringing more humanity in him.” Jun Robles Lana.
