To help people and save their culture, two Tibetan monks cross the high passes of the Himalayas with 17 poor children aged from 4 to 12, at the risk of their lives. They take them to Tibetan schools in India. Thirty years ago when they themselves were children, they walked on the same path. The Dalai Lama entrusted them with the difficult task of maintaining the Buddhist culture in Zanskar, a remote place in the North West India, uprooted from its Tibetan origins. On foot or on horseback, their journey aims to lead these children to a better world. They leave being aware they will perhaps not come back before 10 or 15 years. It is a terribly trying journey through passes over 5000 meters high. The story is punctuated with scenes of departure, dreams and disillusions.
