Yokohama, 1963. Young high school girl Umi lives in an old building on top of a hill overhanging the port of Yokohama. From the day her father was lost at sea, every morning she hoists two flags facing the bay, as a message sent to the horizon. At her high school someone even wrote an article in the campus newspaper about this moving signal. It is perhaps written by intrepid Shun, the seducing young man Umi obviously noticed…The two adolescents share more and more activities, from saving the old place to writing for the newspaper. However, an unexpected turn of events will change their relationship when they discover the secret about their birth that seems to bind them…
In Japan caught between tradition and modernity at the dawn of a new era, Umi and Shun will discover each other and share a moving relationship of friendship, love and hope.
