Hanoi, present day.
Lien works as a waitress in a cafe owned by Suong, her elder sister. Lien, Hai and Khanh, their younger sister, get together at Suong’s to celebrate their mother’s death anniversary. During the whole day, the three sisters show a tight closeness, they seem to share and discuss everything. Quoc, Suong’s husband, is a photographer as well as a botanist. He travels all over the country for his work and secretly has another wife. His long absences become a threat to their married life. Khien, Khanh’s husband, is a writer and works at home. While travelling in Saigon, he gives in to an affair. Lien shares her elder brother’s flat and feels a secret passion for him, thus making their relationship ambiguous.
