Madina is a young Iraqi woman working as a carpet weaver in a village. One day, she meets an Iranian soldier who walks her home. Seeing them together, the men of the family feel outraged and kill the young woman. Nassim secretly studies medicine at university. When her father discovers it, he locks her up in a cellar. She cannot bear the situation. Bemani, which means staying alive, is forced to marry the landowner, a man much older, to cut the rent charges. These three young women whose desire for life is socially reprehensible, are caught in a mortal trap. They are the victims of their fathers and brothers’ violence and prejudice. Bemani is the only one who refuses to submit to her fate: she rebels against injustice and cruelty around her.
"The film could perhaps draw attention to the fate and ways of life of people in a town or a region where social disorientation claims the life of an individual person every day". Dariush Mehrjui
