17 year-old Navid Raisi leaves his small village to look for a job as a teacher of Persian Literature. Put on a waiting list for the next available job at the Education Centre, Navid finds work as a day labourer. One night, he dreams of a young girl. A few days later, he sees the girl in real life and decides to marry her after he gets a job as a teacher. But the Education center is still not hiring. Unable to wait any longer, he goes to the girl's house to propose, but finds out she is a divorcee with 3 children and engaged to an old man to support her living. Upset over the situation of young girls in society, Navid protests in the streets and gets arrested. He receives a short leave from jail to register for a job opening at the Education Centre, only to find that he is competing against the girl he wanted to marry. They play the game “Full or Empty” to determinate who will get the job being offered.
“I think that for lonely human beings today, two things are most important above all, love and hope. Full or empty is the story of a young man who searches for victory with all his love”. Abolfazl Jalili.
