Makoto is a young college girl like many others, a little tomboy, not so interested by school and not at all concerned by the flow of time! This is true until she is given a particular gift: the power to cross time. To improve her marks, help new love stories, eat her favourite dishes again and again, everything becomes possible for Makoto. But to have an influence on the course of events is a gift that sometimes becomes quite dangerous, especially if one has to learn how to live without it!
From the youth romance written in 1965 to the adaptations for cinema and Japanese television, The Girl who leapt through Time has indeed quite travelled from a time to another.
"Through these two heroines I tried to talk about what evolves through times and what remains immuable. I think that The Girl who leapt through Time must be told again and again with the words and style of the girls of each time, as I believe this novel holds the secret of the world." Mamoru Hosada.
