After many years, Ye Nan, who belongs to the Dai minority, goes back to her native village in Yunnan at the boarder of China and Burma ; she wants to look after her thirteen- year-old daughter she had not taken into account up to now. The journey to reconstruct their relationship is however full of obstacles. The villagers enthusiastically welcome the recently constructed local airport that will bring new perspectives. One day, Nan Hang is arrested with her friend Nan Xianglu for stealing from the cash donation box in the holiest temple. Her friend falls ill and the villagers think the two girls are possessed by the devil. To save the girls and the future of their village, they decide to follow the instructions from the Mountain God requesting them to adore the Buddha of stone in the 250 million years old karstic cave at the occasion of the water festival …
