Reza lives with his wife and his son in the middle of the country, where he leads a retired life and spends his time taking care of his freshwater fish farm. A private company with designs on his land is ready to do anything to make him sell up. But can you fight corruption without getting your own hands dirty?
“They often say that censorship and the restrictions that it entails stimulates artists’ creativity. But that is not always the case. Sometimes you get to a point of saturation which can lead to despair. When the authorities who censor prevent you from bonding with your public, you need to find subtle, indirect approaches, and you have to struggle against the reality of being put aside so that it doesn’t get you down. For due to the absence of bonding with your public, your work becomes almost a monologue, because it is no longer visible... It is discouraging but you always end up by finding people around you who are looking for the truth.” Mohammad Rasoulof
