Yuki, a little girl of noble lineage, lives in Heaven with her grandparents who watch over the Earth. When she is 13 she is sent to live with humankind, to bring back peace and prove that she is worthy of taking over from her ancestors. If she succeeds, she will be allowed to return to her family in Heaven. If she fails, she will be changed into an icy wind. Confronted with the torments that the inhabitants of a village in feudal Japan have to put up with, she discovers that the Demon of the mountain is responsible for all their ills. She sets off to look for him in order to free the village people…
“We have thought a lot about what we wanted to pass on to the children of today. So that they reflect on what life is all about or what love can be like after seeing this film.” Imai Tadashi
“If we appreciate Yuki, of course it’s because of her freshness, her generosity and her purity, but our general impression is multiplied tenfold by the fact that she is supported by the village people or the orphans. “Yuki” is a unique, extraordinary, animated film, which shines with quite a singular light.” Jun Ishiko.
