The Tree full of Parrots

Eight-year-old Poonjan is not an ordinary boy. He earns a living by doing odd jobs like fishing in the backwaters. He looks after his family consisting of his father, a drunkard, his grandfather and his great-grandfather. His mother left them years ago.

One day, he sees a blind man sitting alone on the boat jetty. He seems to have lost his way home and can only remember a certain tree full of parrots in front of his house. After some hesitation, Poonjan decides to help the old blind man find his home by asking acquaintances and strangers for directions. They go through some magnificent scenery, get to know each other but, disheartened by these vain attempts, Poonjan is about to give up the search. That is when they hear the sound of parrots which leads them to the "parrot tree".

This is a tender, touching film about the beautiful relationship between two people who have been abandoned and who find true meaning in their lives through sharing.
