Laha Mebow was born in Nan-Ao in 1975, in Taiwan. After a diploma in cinema at the University of Shih Hsin, she joined the native TEIWAN television where she gets to know her heritage and her native culture better. In 2011, she made her director's debut with Finding Sayun, a film focusing on the stories of the contemporary Atayal people in Yilan, which is well received by the public. In 2015, she made her second film, Hang in There, Kids! which receives 5 awards at the Taipei Festival. In 2017, she was shooting a feature film, It's been so long. In 2022, she won the prize for the best realization for her third feature film Gaga at the 59th edition of the Golden Horse Awards, the first Taiwanese and Aboriginal woman to win this award.
