Pierre and Geraldine reach Phnom Penh under a torrential rain. They did not come to Cambodia as ordinary tourists but are here to adopt a child. In this country tormented by History, they undertake an initiatory journey. A grueling and incredible adventure starts for them with the rounds of orphanages, the confrontation with French and Cambodian officials, and the threat of trafficking. Added to which the suspicion and jealousy but also the support from the small community of adopting parents gathered by chance. Through their quest, the couple faces their own fears and selfishness. They tear each other, come closer and get out of this experience forever transformed.
"Holy Lola", a documentary-feature film remarkably played by Isabelle Carré and Jacques Gamblin, is the birth of a family shaped through the adoption of the so much wanted child.
