Cannes Film Festival 2005 - Out of Competition
Cambodia is a country whose dreams have been broken. There is no theatre, no hall for performing arts any more. The traditional arts are disappearing with the competition of television. Yet artists are still there. Guardians of a tradition they can no more pass down, they are condemned to a life of misery or to exotic performances for tourists. In Cambodia, once you are born an artist you remain on.
"The main idea of the film is to gather actors around an emblematic project about the reality we face today: something which decays within us, which falls to pieces, dignity, identity… as we are losing our memory."
