Tchi lives in the USA where she settled so as to go in pursuit of the American dream after her studies in Taiwan. Her dear grandmother has just died and here she is, back in her native town, where she finds her family again and her childhood memories in the area they live in, Happiness Road. Her head is buzzing with her memories, close to home but also of her journey afar, the bitterness of exile, her career ambitions, her American boyfriend and still her family with their oldfashioned traditions. And what if, in the end, the American dream wasn’t a dream at all. Will Tchi find herself again, while never having realised that she was lost ?
