Xiao Jing, a secondary school student, has to quarantine at home after a classmate tests positive for coronavirus. Pin-Wen, her mother, is forced by her company to stay at home too. The mother and the daughter's relationship, which was already complicated, becomes strained as they quarantine together. After several strange episodes, Pin-Wen is hospitalised and diagnosed with a psychotic disorder. It is only then that Xiao Jing understands that her mother is really ill. In the face of illness, unemployment and family debts, a cloud of difficulties hangs over their future. Mental illness makes the mother's and the daughter's lives go off in unexpected directions but it also unravels the strands that had been twisted around their hearts for a long time. Pin Wen discovers that when she falls, the only person there to help her back up is her daughter.
“2020 was an unforgettable year for nations everywhere. The threat of the COVID-19 pandemic forced us to wear masks. Many people changed their way of life and even tragically lost loved ones. Social distancing measures made people mistrust each other but this film, more than anything, focuses on trust.” Chung Mong-hong
