Nariman Turebayev was born in Kazakhstan in 1970. He began making films while still a student at the Moscow Institute of Steels and Alloys and the Kazakh National Academy of Arts before graduation. In 1998, he is an assistant director on his own-scripted and Ardak Amirkulov’-directed 1977. In 2001, he also worked as an assistant director on Darejan Omirbaev’s The Road. The same year, he directed his short movie Antiromantika, which got selected at Cannes’ Film Festival. His two main features, Little Men and Sunny Days got both selected at FICA Vesoul in 2004 and 2012.
