Alan Mak was born in 1965 in Hong Kong. After graduating from Hong Kong Academy for Performance Arts, he made his debut feature in 1997.
Infernal Affairs he codirected with Andrew Law gathered many awards throughout the world. It was the first of many co-directions between the two men.
