Roya Sadat was born in 1983 in Herat. She is graduated from Law and Politics, University of Herat in 2005 and Certificate of study in Asian Film Academy to South Korea in 2006. At age 20, she directed her debut feature, Three Dots, which won awards in many worldwide film festivals. In 2003, she founded together with her sister Alka Sadat the first ever Afghan production company: Roya House Film. She also founded the first International Women Film Festival in Afghanistan. Sine 2004, she has been invited to over 60 International Film Festivals. She works also for television. She received many awards in worldwide film festivals and has won four awards for her debut feature A Letter to the President in Vesoul IFFAC in 2017.
