Elia Suleiman was born in 1960 in Nazareth. He is mostly known for his long feature made in 2002, Divine Intervention, a modern comical tragedy about everyday life in Palestine, which won Jury Prize in Cannes Film Festival. Often compared to Tati or Keaton, Elia Suleiman blends absurdity with serious topics, but always with a lot of poetry.
